Natur EnemyCastBar – Timers galore

It took a while, but Blizzard finally added an enemy cast bar to the game. This was all good, but in reality, I find the built in cast bar to be somewhat lacking. This should come as no surprise, but there are way better cast bars implemented by the addon community available. Let’s have a look at what’s probably the best one, and one of the more popular addons in general out there.

NECBNatur EnemyCastBar was developed by NaturFreund, but has been taken over by 3 developers called beladona, funkydude and Limited, who plan to make it work with the major changes coming in 2.4 to the combat log. NECB gives the user a wide range of cast bars for spells, stuns, beneficial gains, cooldowns and dots to name a few. You have several frames of castbars divided into categories for Friendly gains, Stuns, DoTs, Cooldowns and such that you can move around wherever you want on the screen to suit your UI needs, and you can customize them in size, colors, font etc.

NECBThe addon comes with built in sound system that triggers on killing blows like shooter games sometimes have. Nothing like hearing “Killing spree” as you kill your fifth opponent in a row in PvP. One of the things I found beneficial over the built in cast bars was that you get to see the names of spells cast by opponents. This helped me in the Aran fight in Karazhan for instance as I could easily see what spell was cast when I was on interrupt duty for a specific spell.

If you like having as much info as possible on your screen to keep on top of things, this is yet another addon that can possibly improve your gameplay. You’ll get to see what’s going on around you, and make calls based on the info NECB gives you. As with most addons, you can grab this nifty addon from:
